Ewan Power (he/they) is an emerging Irish visual artist and photographer with a BA in Fine Art Media from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. His work captures the intimacies of his personal relationships. Featuring friends, family, lovers and his surrounding community, it is shaped by connection and vulnerability. Vernacular in style, his photography explores the often-overlooked beauty of the everyday.
His practice is diaristic, with each image telling a story not only of its subject but also of the artist. Considering photography as a means of articulating lived experience, Power documents queer experience in an unflinching and honest way, deliberately presenting underrepresented narratives at the forefront of his work.
Informed largely by personal experiences of grief and loss, his work is shaped by a need to photograph as a way of navigating and understanding emotional states. His interest in memory and psychogeography draws attention to the traces of lived experience that form an autobiographical narrative. Driven by a persistent curiosity and need to photograph, he creates a living, evolving archive of contemporary queer existence.
